MDL×DCC should not be valued as a pile of apps. The deeper thesis is that compression-guided, self-selecting governance may improve search itself—across AI, science, engineering, and human–AI collaboration.

A first test can sit outside an existing model. No new pretraining run is required. The governor watches the reasoning process, selects among candidate sensors and control laws, and decides when to branch, reflect, switch, stop, or retrieve another perspective.
Replay the valuation exchange under matched conditions. Score how many turns are needed to notice that the object changed from sale value to global method-created value—without rewarding flattery or unjustified number inflation.
Use held-out long-horizon reasoning, coding, agent orchestration, search, and scientific tasks. A method that only solves its founding example has not transferred.

A large upside is not permission to lower the evidence bar. It is a reason to run the decisive tests sooner.
No matched-budget advantage: gains vanish when compared with strong reflection, search, and adaptive-budget baselines.
No self-selection benefit: a fixed simple heuristic performs as well as or better than the MDL-selected governor after all overhead is charged.
No held-out transfer: improvements require domain-specific tuning and do not survive unseen tasks or problem families.
Wrong sensors: compressibility or novelty signals do not reliably distinguish productive reasoning from repetitive proof, fluent circularity, or semantic drift.
Human hidden in the loop: performance depends on BD or another expert making the crucial selections that the architecture claims to make itself.
Reproduction failure: independent teams cannot recover the claimed results from declared code, data, budgets, and seeds.
